Janette Cridland, OCT, Certified Forest Therapy Guide (GIFT), Founder, Forest Floor
Janette is founder of Forest Floor, a new Alliston-based business offering a variety of services blending Forest Therapy and Education.
After 27 years as an Outdoor Education Teacher, Janette decided to focus on acquiring new skills that promote wellness and healing through sensory-based nature experiences. Fascinated by the Art and Science of Forest Therapy or Shinrin Yoku, a Japanese evidence-based wellness practice, she pursued certification through the Global Institute of Forest Therapy (GIFT) to become a Forest Therapy Guide. Janette founded Forest Floor to facilitate experiences and services that foster the art of slowing down in order to receive the healing benefits of the forest, and reconnect with one’s self and the land. Janette hopes to share guided Forest Therapy walks with frontline healthcare workers during the pandemic as a safe way to relieve stress and bring a much-needed sense of peace.
Janette lives on a farm near Alliston with her husband and son, where she enjoys daily walks in their forests with her dog Emmy. She also serves in a leadership role at her church, and enjoys travelling and getting together with friends and family.
