With having pledged the highest per capita amount for this year's Foundation Challenge Walk, the Rotarians of the Alliston club will host the Foundation Walk 2010.

It was a partially rainy but warm day on Sunday, September 27th, 2009 when 12 Alliston Rotarians and friends made their way to Canadian Forces Base Trenton to participate in the annual District 7070 Foundation Challenge Walk.  Between 400 and 500 people walked the 5 kilometer tour, stopping along the way to hear about various facets of the base and how it services our troops.

Lunch was served in the large complex housing the completely restored Halifax Bomber, the only one left in the world, that was shot down over Norway in 1945.  When all the pledges from the clubs across the district were tallied, it was announced that The Rotary Club of Alliston, with the highest per capita amount collected, would be the host club for the 2010 Foundation Challenge Walk.

The Foundation Committee of The Rotary Club of Alliston would like to thank all of the club members and members of our local community who generously donated pledges to our efforts to raise funds for the charitable arm of Rotary International, The Rotary Foundation.  With everyone's help we, together with many other clubs in the district, raised $110,000 as we walked the base and learned so much about how it supports the men and women who help to protect us all.
