The Renewal of the Rezz
Aug 30, 2021 6:30 pm
Nestled at the foot of the Adelaide Hills, Rezz is a local landmark that has been serving the people of the north east for more than 150 years. The original Reservoir Hotel was built as a watering hole for the mostly European workers who were employed to construct the Thorndon Park Reservoir. Not used to the unrelenting heat and harsh South Australian conditions, it was agreed that the hotel was a necessity for exhausted workers. Although back then it was a real working man’s pub it still boasted a glorious backdrop and magnificent views to the picturesque Thorndon Park. An attractive opportunity for future owners and entrepreneurs Fred and Lorna Hamood. The immigrant Hamood family took the reins in 1965, transforming the hotel into a modern bar, lounge and dining venue. Forty years later Fred and Lorna’s children Fred Jnr, Richard, and Sue-Anne, returned to once again reinvent the popular local – the result is ‘Rezz’. A new take on an old favourite, Rezz is a fresh and ambient venue that invites diners to enjoy good food in the company of good friends. It’s local, it’s family-friendly and after 150 years it’s still serving up the very best of our great state. Literally. The redevelopment will be completed imminently, with Fred speaking to the club about the redevelopment. |

The Campbelltown Rotary Outback Experience (CROE) is a four-wheel drive sightseeing and fundraising trip. This will be the tenth of these events which have in the past raised over $300.000 for the Royal Flying Doctor Service and contributed much-needed funds to Australian Rotary Health and many other Community and charitable organisations. Please read the attached information sheet and complete and return the registration form as soon as possible. We need to know the number of persons seeking accommodation (as opposed to camping) as a priority as this will impact on where we will stay during the trip. |

The Bay to Birdwood is one of the world’s great historic motoring events and is the largest continually-held motoring event for veteran, vintage and classic vehicles anywhere in the world. It is an event that truly has no age limit, boasting a reach across a broad demographic. The Bay to Birdwood is a vehicle run held annually. Historic motorcars, motorcycles, and commercial vehicles travel the 70 km route from the coastal suburb of West Beach to the National Motor Museum in the Adelaide Hills town of Birdwood. With a history spanning back to 1980, the Bay to Birdwood is a well-known and highly respected historic motoring event that brings the community and the citizen-collectors from across the globe together for a celebration. There are two Bay to Birdwood events: the Run is held on even-numbered years and the Classic on odd-numbered years. The Run is an event for vehicles manufactured up to 31 December 1959 and is held in ‘even’ numbered years ie. 2020, 2022, 2024 etc. The Classic is an event for vehicles manufactured between 1 January 1956 to 31 December 1986, held in ‘odd’ numbered years ie. 2019, 2021, 2023 etc. The Bay to Birdwood is a community event – from the five thousand participants in entrant vehicles – to the hundreds of volunteers – right through to the tens of thousands of spectators lining the route to watch this historic motoring cavalcade as it travels through metropolitan Adelaide and the Hills. At the National Motor Museum Finish motor enthusiasts and spectators enjoy an afternoon of displays, entertainment and the very popular judging of the Concours d’Elegance and Preservation Award vehicles. The South Australian community has truly embraced the event with their continued support on the last Sunday in September each year. |
