Dale Albertson of the African Canadian Continuing Education Society (ACCES) gave us a very insightful talk about his work to eradicate poverty in Kenya, Africa. He stresses the importance of understanding the local needs and culture first before taking action to help communities abroad. Quite often charity based organizations overlook that and implement resources that locals don't end up using for various reasons.
