Interested in joining the North Haven Rotary Club? Here are 4 reasons why you should:

1) Give Back to the Community

The North Haven Rotary is active throughout the greater New Haven area in numerous charitable causes. We host community dinners and assist local vets. We organize the annual North Haven High School Project Graduation, giving seniors a fun, safe option for graduation celebrations. And we donate our time and money to a litany of causes, including the North Haven Education Foundation, NHTV, Special Olympics CT, Fix & Feed North Haven, Camp Rising Sun, Vets 4 Vets, the Community Soup Kitchen, the Ronald McDonald House, the North Haven Garden Club, and the NHHS girls rugby team. At our most recent community recognition luncheon we handed out about $40,000 in grants to local groups and organizations.

2) Meet Local Business Professionals

Our club is comprised of a diverse variety of business professionals from the area. Among our members are lawyers, CPAs, business owners, mortgage brokers, print professionals, actors, photographers, landlords, car salesmen, insurance professionals, financial advisors, jewelers, nonprofit employees, bankers, pharmaceutical professionals, florists, professors, comptrollers, and someone who writes about alcohol for a living. In terms of age, our club ranges from Millennials to members with a bit of grey up top. The North Haven Rotary allows you to expand your professional network while also giving back to the community in a meaningful way.

3) Get Involved Locally

Rotary is about more than just the time and money we donate to the local communities. Anyone can write a check for a charity — we get involved and stay involved. Take pleasure in knowing that you are part of the positive force in your community, helping those in need, reliably so, year after year.

4) Have Fun!

For all that we give back to the community, we also take time to enjoy each other’s company. North Haven Rotarians are a very social bunch, enjoying fellowship events and nights out at local establishments. Do you like wine, bourbon, banter, fun, or fine dining? You’ll fit right in.

We are a nonpolitical group that counts members on both aisle. Rotary is not about politics. Rotary is about community service and enjoying good times.

So Are You Interested?

If so, fantastic! The next step is to contact Membership Chair LuAnn Buono and express your interest (by clicking on her name).

Rotary SuperHero Nick Brunetti has used his powers to beat the 10-day objection period and will be inducted/patched as our newest Rotarian next week. Nick has been coming as a prospect for the past 3 months and has served as Asst Chef at the last community supper, was a tremendous help at Wine & Roses and beat the heck out of the batter at the Pancake breakfast a few weeks ago.

Nick will be the youngest member that we have brought in some time, he makes Lou Silva look like a member of AARP in comparison...and the rest of us....gulp! We are super excited to have Nick sworn in by District Governor Tom next week.

It's time for 'Operation Warm Coat' again. This is where we donate coats to 1st graders at Lincoln-Bassett School in New Haven. This year the community service project will take place on Monday Dec 7th at 10:15 am.

We expect to give out over 100 coats, actual count and precise number of yellow coats to be determined.
Please contact Bernadette Casella @ gcasella@snet.net if you're able to assist. It's a heart 'warming' event.

Thanksgiving is a time to spend time with families and friends as well as an opportunity to reflect on what we are thankful for.

As Rotarians we constantly give of our time, talent and tender to make the Greater North Haven Community a fabulous place to live and work in while positively impacting many lives of our neighbors. We do this with no expectation of receiving anything in return but miraculously we receive far more back in terms of satisfaction and appreciation then we could hope for.

Thank you fellow Rotarians for all that are and all that you do.

Come to the meeting this Tuesday morning to hear a final report out, including financial results, by Brian.

Our new Mascot 4-Way was a big hit during the event as many people had their photos taken with him (assuming that 4-Way is a him) but a few pictures by Rick DiNorscia, Bernadette, Lou Silva and Mary Jane were rated R and can't be posted here.

We are able to share the 'Family Friendly' photo of the Coughlin crew.

As their last official act before disbanding our Rotaract Club held their annual 5k road race in conjunction with our pancake breakfast this past Sunday. At over 200 runners, the turnout was the best that they've ever had. LuAnn, Kathy and Donna Mae helped out the runners and the race organizers in the morning and then were able to divert a rather large group of runners to our pancake breakfast after the race.

The Unsung Hero Award Committee of the North Haven Rotary Club is attempting to reach out to the community to recognize high school students who go above and beyond for others, yet seldom receive recognition. For 5 years the local service club has only sought recommendations from staff at North Haven High School, but now wants to expand its reach to recognize students residing in North Haven attending ANY high school, recommended by ANY adult who can attest to the recommendation, including staff, relatives, and friends.
