North Haven Rotary’s annual 4-Way Speech Contest is now accepting entries.
Any North Haven High School student can participate. The winner receives $200 and moves on to compete in the District Semifinals, while 2nd place gets $100, and 3rd $50.
The North Haven Rotary 4-Way Speech Contest takes place Feb. 12, 2018, in the NHHS auditorium at 7 p.m.
The speech must apply the to Rotary 4-Way Test. It should examine the test as a standard of behavior in relation to topics such as individual life experiences, current events or broad societal issues. The Rotary 4-Way Test is:
  1. Is it the truth?
  2. Is it fair to all concerned?
  3. Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
  4. Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
Speakers should demonstrate the impact of the test upon the subject of their speech. They do not need to emphasize all four elements of the 4-Way Test equally, but should acknowledge each of the four.
First place advances onto the District Semifinals on March 3, 2018, at the Trumbull Library from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The winner of the semis receives $500, 2nd place $400, 3rd place $300, and 4th place $200.
