Spirit of Service Winner
 
Spirit of Service Award  - Service project for the benefit of our 4th of July Beneficiary – The North Texas Food Bank.  Various Highland Park High School Teams competed for this award
 
Winner – HPISD Lady Scots Track/Field and Cross Country Team raised $4,000 on behalf of the North Texas Food Bank.  Congratulations!  (insert picture)
 
 
Honorable mention – HPISD Men’s Basketball Team raised $2,500.  Great job!

2020 4th of July Calendar of Events
 
The traditional Park Cities 4th of July Parade and Goar Park Festivities have been canceled; however, a new 4th of July celebration has been planned.   See the details below.
 
While participating in the various competitions, please consult the CDC, State of Texas, and local recommendations for social distancing.   Have fun and be safe!
 
9:00 am July 4th broadcast

Patriotic Yard Decorating Competition
 
 
 
  • Have fun and decorate your yard for all to enjoy!
  • Decorations must incorporate this year’s theme: “Stars, Stripes, and Service”
  • Please complete the entry form and submit to redwhiteandhomepc@gmail.com by June 15th. This date is to meet the publication deadline of the Park Cities People Newspaper’s July edition so that a map of competing homes can be included in its July issue
  • Entries will receive a yard sign the week of June 22nd  announcing their participation in the competition
  • Decorations must be completed by noon, Friday, July 3
  • Two ways to win:
    • As judged by Rotary Club of Park Cities.   1st, 2nd, 3rd Place will receive recognition.  1st place will also receive a 1st Place yard display
    • Community Voting.  Online voting through Park Cities Newspapers website.  The 1st place winner will receive a yard display. 
      • For participants to be included in the community voting competition, they can post a picture of their home and street address on Facebook using #redwhiteandhomepc
  • Judging period:  Noon July 3 – Noon on July 4th
  • Winners will be notified directly and also announced on the Rotary Club of Park Cities’ website (www.parkcitiesrotary.org) and social media by 3:00 pm, July 4th, as well as featured in Park Cities People August edition
 
 
Community Spirit Award
Block Competition
 
  • Awarded to the block that shows the most festive and patriotic decorations throughout the block
  • Will be selected by the Rotary Club of Park Cities 
  • Decorations must not obstruct or impede traffic
  • Winning block will receive a $400.00 gift certificate for a pizza party at a date TBD
  • Winners will be notified directly, and also announced on the Rotary Club of Park Cities’ website (www.parkcitiesrotary.org) and social media by 3:00 pm, July 4th, as well as featured in the Park Cities People August edition
  • Do not need to be in town to win
 
 
Park Cities 4th of July 
Art Competition for Kids
 
 
Kids of the Park Cities are invited to show their patriotism and creativity by entering our 4th of July competition.  The artwork can be of any medium and should incorporate this year’s Celebration theme of “Stars, Stripes and Service”. 
  • 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in each of three age group categories will be notified directly, announced on the Rotary Club of Park Cities’ website (www.parkcitiesrotary.org) and social media by 3:00 pm, July 4th, as well as featured in  Park Cities People  August edition
  • The age groups are:
    • 6 years and under
    • 7-12 years old
    • 13-18 years old
 
Spirit of Service Award
HPHS Teams
 
 
  • Service project for the benefit of our 4th of July Beneficiary – The North Texas Food Bank.  For every dollar raised, the NTFB can provide 3 meals.
  • To enter teams must complete and submit the "Service of Spirit" Entry Form to  parkcitiesparade@gmail.com
  • Team may submit short video to describe service project and funds raised, selected videos will be broadcast as part of the 4th of July 9:00 am broadcast and on social media.  Total dollars raised and videos must be submitted by Thursday, June 25.  Those who do not submit a video must report dollars raised by June 25th.
  • Trophy to team that raises the most dollars, will be announced at 3:00 on July 4th.
