At our May 9th club meeting, Charles Malaniak, volunteer coach of the Odyssey of the Mind team from Thomas Jefferson School in Rockaway Borough spoke to the club about the OotM program and the success of the TJ team. "Odyssey of the Mind is an international creative problem-solving program that engages students in their learning by allowing their knowledge and ideas to come to life in an exciting, productive environment. Participants build self-confidence, develop life skills, create new friendships, and are able to recognize and explore their true potential. OotM proves that students can have fun while they learn." The Thomas Jefferson Odyssey of the Mind teamhas been very successful at the state and regional competitions and has advanced to the World Finals at Iowa State University starting on June 4, 2018. Best of luck to the TJ team in the World Finals!
Once again this spring, we will be helping beautify Rockaway Borough by doing a trash pickup on Thursday, May 31st. Not only does it make our town look better but we receive a donation from the Borough through the NJ Clean Communities Grant Program for our various charitable activities.
We will meet at Rockaway Borough Hall at 5:30 PM to pick up bags and grabbers and then head to our assigned area. We will have a sign-up at the meetings for you to indicate your participation. If you have any questions, please contact President Ken or Past President Sheila.
On Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at 12:15 PM we will have an installation luncheon/ceremony for our club’s officers for 2018-2019 at The Exchange. Please make every effort to attend this meeting to applaud President Ken Nickel and his board members on their fine year leading our club and to congratulate our incoming President Rod Seifert and next year's officers and board members.
