At our April 11th club meeting, Trooper II Slawek Stepian of the New Jersey State Police, K-9 "ICE" Patrol/Electronic Storage Detection division spoke to our members about the work of his K-9 unit and introduced us to his canine partner, "ICE" who demonstrated his ability to detect electronic storage devices such as hard drives, cell phones, thumb drives, etc.. ICE is the only canine in the state of New Jersey with this Electronic Storage Detection training. ICE is dual "patrol" trained to be able to be also used for other needs such as finding missing persons, subduing suspects, etc.
Each year, the Rotary Club of the Rockaways offers four scholarships to qualified high school seniors from Rockaway Borough or Rockaway Township. Click "Read more..." below for the requirements and qualifications for each scholarship and download the scholarship application forms.
Tickets for the 2018 District-Wide 50/50 raffle have been distributed to our club and are available from President Ken. The tickets are $20 each and the drawing will be held on May 24, 2018 at the Madison Rotary AM meeting at the Madison YMCA. If all available 5000 tickets are sold, first prize will be $30,000. This year's raffle includes both Districts 7470 and 7510.
As required by law,50% of the proceeds will go to the winners, and the remaining 50%, (minus a small percentage to cover expenses)will go to the Rotary Clubs or other organizations that sell the tickets.
In a past year's raffle our club sold the winning ticket and we will participate in this raffle again this year. Please contact President Ken to obtain tickets to sell and/or purchase to assist us in this club fundraising project.
ALL SOLD AND UNSOLD TICKETS MUST BE RETURNED TO PRESIDENT KEN BY MAY 16, 2018.
