On Tuesday, August 7th, members of the Rockaway Rotary Club weathered the storm to participate in the annual “National Night Out” in Rockaway Borough. This nationwide crime and drug prevention event is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW) and co-sponsored locally by the Rockaway Borough Police Department.
This past Wednesday, August 8th, Rockaway Rotary and clubs from District 7475 participated in Service Club Day at Camp Merry Heart. The clubs of the district have been supporting Camp Merry Heart since 1952, providing the upkeep of buildings, donating camper scholarships, and providing much needed supplies.
Our next Rotary Board meeting is this Thursday, August 16, 2018 starting at 7:30 AM at Rockaway Assembly of God. If you have any items for the agenda, please let me know by August 14th. Also, please confirm your availability to attend this meeting so that we have a quorum.
On Saturday, August 18th, Rockaway Rotary will again participate at the distribution of school supplies during the Rockaway “Back-To-School” Program at the United Methodist Church. Due to our contributions and help, many students in our communities will be able to start the school year with a new backpack and the essential supplies to make their school year a success. Rockaway Rotary provides the funds to purchase the backpacks for this project. As always, we also will be manning the grills cooking the burgers and hot dogs during the distribution. Contact Chairperson PP Sheila Seifert to volunteer to work a shift at this event.
On Wednesday, September 26, 2018, we will be having the annual District Governor's visit and the opportunity to hear our new DG John Wilson's plans for District 7475 this year.
