ROCKAWAY ROTARY STUDENT HONORS

At our January 31, 2018 club meeting, the Rockaway Rotary Club honored Zoraya Acosta from Thomas Jefferson Middle School in Rockaway Borough and Olivia Ciampi from Copeland Middle School in Rockaway Township as part of our club's Student Honors Program.  Youth Services Director Jake Vogelezang outlined Rotary's focus in the area of education and introduced Thomas Jefferson Principal David Waxman and Copeland Principal Alfonso Gonnella who spoke about each student's outstanding qualifications for this award.

FAMILY GAME NIGHT

HELP FEED THE HOMELESS

On Saturday, February 17, 2018, the Rockaway Rotary Club will again assist in feeding the homeless at Homeless Solutions, 540 West Hanover Ave., Morristown, NJ.  This project will start at 3:00 PM and continue until around 7:00 PM.  We will be preparing dinner for roughly 60-75 people.  All food will be purchased, prepared and served by Rockaway Rotarians. If interested in helping with this project, please contact Past-President Janice Christensen.
 
DISTRICT 7470 PRESIDENT'S BALL

On Saturday evening, March 3, 2018, the annual President's Ball will be held at the Hanover Manor in East Hanover beginning at 6:00 PM.  The President's Ball is a yearly event where all clubs are encouraged to participate to cheer and applaud their club's current President for all their work, effort and enthusiasm they exhibit throughout the year.  Please join your fellow Rockaway Rotarians as we honor President Ken.

2018-2019 ROTARY INTERNATIONAL PRESIDENT

Barry Rassin, of the Rotary Club of East Nassau, New Providence, Bahamas, is the selection of the Nominating Committee for President of Rotary International for 2018-19. He will be declared the president-elect on 1 September if no challenging candidates have been suggested.  As president, Rassin aims to strengthen our public image and our use of digital tools to maximize Rotary’s reach.  Rassin’s nomination follows Sam F. Owori’s death in July, just two weeks into his term as Rotary International president-elect.
