'Night on Broadway' fundraiser is planned

 

ROCKAWAY—Bid on a QVC tour for six, a handcrafted wooden rocking horse, a professionally written family history and much more at “A Night on Broadway,” a fundraising event being held by the Rotary Club of the Rockaways at the White Meadow Lake Country Club at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 29.

Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door.

“Many charities will benefit from this event, including the Rockaway Food Closet, which feeds more than 130 families in the area,” says Denise Nickel, president. “We are delighted to work with members of the Morris Hills High School Chorus who will be singing Broadway show tunes under the direction of Anna D’Achille that evening. And the generosity of local merchants in donating 50 prizes for our tricky tray is an example of how strong our community is in supporting its own.”

The event will also include light refreshments.

Merchants who have made donations, so far, include Acme, Ah Pizz, AMC Theater, the Apple Store, Atlantis Water Gardens, Ava’s Cupcakes, Baker’s Creek Heirloom Seeds, Baker’s Perfection, Caffe’ NaVona, Canusa Construction LLC and D&M Auto Repair., Euromaids, Exchange Restaurant, Grassroots Natural Market, JDK Images photography, La Strada Restaurant, Mary Kay Cosmetics, Mother’s Performance Super Center, N Style Hair Salon, Nisivoccia LLP certified public accountants, Olive Garden, Paradiso Pizza, Pencraft Writing Studios, QVC, Ray & Judy’s Book Stop, Rockaway Arts Academy, Rockaway Billiards, Rockaway Drugs and Surgical, Rockaway Karate Academy, Rockaway Lanes, Rockaway River Barn, Scallopini Restaurant and Starseed Bakery. Many more businesses will be donating in the coming weeks.

The Rockaway Rotary Club is the local chapter of Rotary International, an organization dedicated to humanitarian service at the global and community levels. The club is involved in supporting the Rockaway Food Closet and maintaining Park Lake Gazebo, as well as running the Rockaway annual Halloween parade, Easter Bunny breakfast and annual donation of dictionaries for every third grader in Rockaway Township and Rockaway Borough. This dedication to education is further reinforced through monthly academic certificates and annual college scholarships the group awards to Rockaway students.
