Fellow Madison Rotarians – it’s time for a spring cleanup in the borough!!! The May Day event is a great way for us to show our appreciation for the borough – we need volunteers for Saturday May 6th. Madison Rotary adopted the Library as our annual cleanup project during the May Day event. Read below to see the details and benefit of May Day for the borough.
We will meet at 8:30am at the Madison Library located between Keep St. and Belmont. Wear gardening clothes, bring gloves if you have them and anyone with a Wheel Barrow – we need these to move mulch!!!
The sponsors of the event (including Madison Rotary), supply all the volunteers with shirts which is a great fashion item to wear around town all summer!!
Please everyone consider helping out that morning. Come for 3 hours or one hour – whatever you can fit in. We need 25-30 volunteers to make the event go quickly and do the best job making the Library gardens look great.
Confirm back to Tom Haralampoudis that you will come and advise your shirt size. thomas@lancasales.com

19 new members have become part of Madison Rotary this year. Many of you are still working with prospective members and hopefully they will join before the end of the Rotary year, June 30th. To help in the process, the Membership Committee is hosting an Open House Ice Cream social at the YMCA on May 25th for 6:30 to 8:00 pm. This is an excellent opportunity for you to bring any prospective members you are working with to learn more about Madison Rotary. In addition we are inviting 350 of the volunteers who helped with End Hunger 3.6 to thank them for their efforts and explore options for further involvement with our club.

Was Paul Harris the first president of a Rotary Club? No. Was Paul Harris the first president of Rotary International? Yes.
There is an easy explanation to this apparent contradiction. Although Paul Harris was the founder and organizer of the first Rotary club in Chicago in 1905, the man selected to be the first president was one of the other founding members, Silvester Schiele.
