Over 40 Rotarians assisted with Bottle Hill day selling hambugers, hot dogs, pretzels and beverages. The day was overcast with a misting rain. Attendance was slightly less than previous years but our club still managed to sell out all food. Thanks to Joe Smith, Bottle Hill Chair, who organized the entire day including making food arrangements, equipment, finances, etc. We are still in the process of tallying all of the proceeds and a final amount will be forthcoming. Proceeds of Bottle Hill day are used to support the charitable endeavors of Madison Rotary. Thanks to all who helped.

The Rotary International float in the annual Tournament of Roses Parade is undoubtedly the largest public relations project of the Rotary clubs of the United States and Canada. Since 1927 a Rotary float has been entered 39 times, including every year since 1980. Funds for the construction of the Rotary parade entry are voluntarily given by Rotarians and clubs in the U.S. and Canada. The cost of designing, constructing and flower covering a Rose Parade float begins at about $120,000. The Rotary float must portray the annual parade theme, usually depicting one of the worldwide service programs of Rotary International. Each New Year’s Day, Rotarians take pride in seeing their attractive float, and realize they have shared in its construction by contributing a dollar or two to this beautiful public relations project.

In the past few years attendance at Rotary meetings has dropped, some Clubs continue to have outstanding attendance. Many argue that it’s not about turning up at meetings, but more about involvement, participation, even leadership. It is very true that clubs need committed Rotarians to lead projects, or special events, or to start up new initiatives. We know form experience that those who regularly attend Club meetings tend to be more involved in all aspects of Rotary. Click Read More for additional information.
