Polio Plus Gala - October 20, 2018

Madison Rotary had over 30 people attend the Polio Plus Gala held on October 20, 2018 at Mayfair Farms in West Orange.  Over $70,000 was raised to support the eradication of Polio in the world. These funds will be matched 2 to 1 by a contribution from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Barry Rassin, RI President, was the keynote speaker.  He announced that so far only 20 new cases of Polio have been reported worldwide.  An additional highlight of the event was the recognition of the 2018 Vocational Service award winners and Liz Parker of the Madison Club was one of three recipients in the state.  Jeannie Tsukamoto was all recognized as becoming a member of the Rotary bequest society name Rotary as a beneficiary in her estate plan.
Featuring Michael Marchese
Michael Marchese a Madison Rotarian and Real Estate broker in Morristown, New Jersey, knows how to adapt and survive, literally.  He’s changed careers – from cook to residential agent to commercial broker – and, as a kid, escaped Communists in Vietnam he says likely would have killed him. Oh yeah, and when he fled his home country in 1975, the first Operation Babylift plane he should have been on crashed, killing all 78 aboard. 250,000 Meals To Be Packaged
Slide Show of Last Year's Program
Rotary District 7475, Madison Rotary Foundation and numerous other Rotary Clubs have a goal of packaging 250,000 meals on Saturday, March 9, 2019 form 9 am to 4 pm.    Hunger is a very real problem for many people in our community and we are dedicated to making a difference by distributing all of the meals locally.  130,000 meals were packaged in 2017, 160,000 were packaged in 2018 and we are excited about achieving the goal of 250,000 in 2019.  Ellsworth Havens, program chair, said "we are grateful to have such a supportive community and sponsors to make a program like this happen".  We are in the process of securing donations from individuals, sponsors and corporations for this year's program.  The cost per meal is approximately 25 cents.  A contribution of $10.00 equals 40 meals; $100.00 equals 400 meals, $1,000 equals 4,000 meals.  It will take 800 onsite volunteer on March 9th to make this happen.  Volunteer registration start January 15, 2019.  Click the DONATE or VOLUNTEER button on the left to Donate or Volunteer.
