The Madison Rotary will once again conduct our Spring Reading Project, when we visit the Madison second-grade classrooms and read “Andy & Elmer’s Apple Dumpling Adventure” to the children. This project promotes literacy and a love of reading while also introducing the children to Rotary and the concept of The Four-Way Test. It is a very fun and rewarding experience, and we are heartily welcomed by the schools where they are eager to have us.
We need to fill 11 volunteer spots, 1 for each class. The commitment is for about 1 – 1 ½ hours: we meet about 15 minutes prior to the reading time, spend about 30-45 minutes in the classroom, and then capture a few photographs if possible. I will provide instructions in advance and a link to a training video that you can view. This is quick and easy service project, and it is a real joy. The children are adorable and they get very excited to have visitors in the classroom. Please join me for this joyous project!
