Langley Central Profile

In 1980 only one club, an "evening" club, was serving the Langley area. It was felt that there was a need to form a "noon" club to meet the rapidly expanding population. This was the birth of the Rotary Club of Langley Central. Since that time the Langley Central club has grown to become the largest club in Langley.

The club has been active in the community contributing significant funding to construct and maintain bridges and trail systems in the Rotary Nicomekl Park. Major financial contributions have been made to the Langley Memorial Hospital, the Ishtar Transition House, the Langley Community Music School, to name a few. In the Rotary Centennial year The Rotary Club of Langley Central was a major contributor to the Rotary Fieldhouse in McLeod Park.

Innumerable donations have also been made in support of groups and organizations in the community.

The club provides scholarships to grade 12 graduates and sends students to the Adventures in Citizenship program in Ottawa.

Members of the club, through personal contributions and fundraising activities, contribute generously to the Rotary Foundation. The Rotary Club of Langley Central with the assistance of the Rotary Foundation has funded a number of projects in underdeveloped countries.
