Over 10 years, more than 35,000 dictionaries given to third grade students at Gilbert Public Schools, San Tan Charter School Elementary and some Mesa schools.  The year when young students transition from learning to read to "reading to learn," third grade presents lots of new words.  How to pronounce?  How to spell?  What do they mean?  Plus, dictionaries contain information on sign language, math, American history, geography and astronomy.  The books stay in the classroom all year, then go home with the student as their own book.  They are used during merit testing and hopefully lead to a lifelong love of learning.  If you thought young people no longer enjoy having real books in their hands, then you're wrong!  Just ask them, or their teachers!  We get consistently hight marks from the teachers for this project.
Ask us how you, too, can contribute to this project this fall!
