Sun Lakes Rotary Club has just completed the second year of the Navajo Water Project
Sun Lakes Rotary Club, in partnership with DigDeep and St. Bonaventure Indian Mission, has just completed the second year of the Navajo Water Project.  Among the 33 Navajo households receiving in-home running water systems this year, are Joe and Ida, ages 84 and 77, who have not had inside running water since the early 1970's.  They used to have 50-gallon drums which were filled once per month unless their son brought more water in his pick-up truck.  Now they have an underground 1200 gallon cistern, water filter and heater, filled monthly by tanker truck.  17  U.S. Rotary Clubs in five states, including Gilbert Rotary Club, worked with 26 Rotary Clubs in other countries and 9 Districts to raise this money.  The Rotary Foundation Global Grant matched those contributions.

Nicely done, Sun Lakes Rotary Club.  We are now working on year three, raising money to install systems in over 100 additional Navajo homes.  Service Above Self.
