Los Altos Rotary Veterans Committee

 

 

The Veterans Support Committee is a LARC standing committee focused on assisting our country's veterans.

 

Specifically, this committee supports the Veterans Resource Center at Foothill College.  The center offers Veterans, active duty personnel and reservists the opportunity to adapt their military skills to civilian life, learn in-demand skills, earn an associate degree or a certificate of achievement, and complete university-transfer requirements.

 

We are around to announce the 43rd annual Cioppino Feed to raise funds for the Veterans at Foothill College.   It will be March 19, 2021 via Zoom.  See the Los Altos Rotary Home Page for information about the event.

Los Altos Rotarians have supported the Foothill College Veterans Resource Center for years by hosting fundraising events including the annual Cioppino Dinner held in February, and providing scholarships to help with the cost of books and school expenses.  In addition, club members provide one-on-one counseling to vets on career options and interviewing skills.  

 

Recently, the Los Altos Rotary Vets Committee has been involved in the development of the Veterans Plaza at Foothill College, an outdoor space adjacent to the VRC where veterans can come together to talk, study, read or relax during their down periods between classes.

 

Annually in November, the club honors veterans with a special program on around Veterans Day.
