Jan. 30, 2018 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Our incredible Program Committee has set up a tour of the Hill Museum and Manuscript Library located located on the campus of Saint John's University in the newly remodeled Alcuin Library and Dr. Dietrich Reinhart Learning Commons starting at 4:00 pm. This is incredible as you will get to hold, touch and smell manuscripts for centuries ago and hear their stories. Adjacent to the HMML location is also the new Saint John's Bible Gallery that now house the last handwritten Bible in over 500 years. This new gallery is spectacular. Immediately following the tour we will have some adult refreshments and snacks for all who attend. Event details:
Please RSVP to mr.bodette@gmail.com if you plan to attend. Guests of Rotarians are welcome. We need a rough count for planning purposes.

Dividends from Addressing Climate Change
May 15, 2018
Henry Jakubowski received a BS in Chemistry after spending several years as an Astronomy/Physics major. Following his undergraduate degree, he developed clinical diagnostic tests at the Mayo Clinic for four years before pursuing a Ph.D in Biochemistry at the University of Iowa. He returned to Mayo for a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in Biophysics before taking a faculty position in the Chemistry Department at the College of St. Benedict/St. John’s University, where he has taught for 30 years. He is also a visiting Professor of Chemistry at Southwest University, Beibei, Chongqing, China as a result of his teaching there and work developing a student research collaboration between the two universities. In recent years he has increasingly realized the impact of climate change on the world we are leaving for our children and grandchildren and has felt he has not done enough to bring the science of climate change to his students and to the general public. The urgency of this issue has led him to develop programs and give talks on climate change and present solutions which offer hope for future generations. |
