I am Richard Sarpong; I live in Clearlake City with my wife Liliana.  I am a graduate of Texas A&M University class of 2005 with a Bio-Environmental Science Degree and experience in Business Development.  I currently work in the environmental field in this area.

I am originally from West Africa, Ghana.  I have lived in the United States for 15 years.  Previously, I lived in ghana for 11 years, and then moved on to live in Germany and England both for 3 years.

Growing up in Ghana, my Dad was a dedicated Rotarian, and my mom in the Inner Wheel.  My Dad had been president and director and mom president of The Inner Wheel as well.  With the both of them being involved in service in their community through The Rotary Club and The Inner Wheel, myself and my siblings had some form of orientation into the club.  From parties, inductions, meetings, beautification of the city, and a United Nations recognition award for drug abuse campaign, I was sold on caring about the well being of my fellow man.

I have been involved in my community through my local church, in leading different initiatives that support those in need of help in many different ways - from relocation to food distribution.

Recently I was introduced to this club through a giant of whom has giving me a shoulder to stand on, a mentor, and a friend, a true brother and a leader in your community, a man that I respect, love and appreciate a lot, your own Mike Cornett.  I know I am not the only person he consistently encourages but many others.

After I visited Space Center, I knew I wanted to be part of this family, and hold to the missions and truths of the club.  My older sister has already been a part of the Accra, Ghana Club.

Even though I was not the first, my involvement has challenged my oldest brother, the last sibling to turn in his application.

So, I am looking forward to bring my expertise, my care about people, my early introduction to Rotary, and my recent interest to be part of such a community to this club.

Thank you,
Richard Sarpong
