December 20, 2010 Club Meeting Review
View the youth
singers

Excitement of the season, singing, and greeting the many guests dominated the December 20 Club meeting.   Club members and guests enjoyed singing holiday songs and the Bay Area Youth Singers filled the room with beautiful music.  There were many of the member's wives, children, and grandchildren;  Rotaract members; and district 5890 assistant governor Schneider, his wife and daughter present to enjoy  the time together. President Coney wished all holiday greetings and then adjourned the meeting.

The members of the Rotary Club of Space Center extend our best wishes to outgoing song leader extraordinaire,  Debby McBride.  Debby has been a member for seven years, and has led the singing for three years.  Those of us who didn't get a chance to know Debby better have definitely missed a treat.

Debby is originally a California native and moved to Texas with her parents (Mom is Emyre Robinson of Barrios Technology) when she was in high school.  Debby graduated from Clear Creek High School, then made her way back to California and earned a BA in Spanish from UCLA.  She studied music at Cal State Fullerton, performing with the Roger Wagner Chorale.  Her career background also includes an apprenticeship as a piano tuner, co- owner of a karate studio (she is a 2nd degree black belt!) and word processing back when desk top computers were still a novelty.  She returned to Texas in 1990 and received a Masters in Accounting from the University of Houston Clear Lake.  After working as a CPA and in tax accounting for six years, Debby  ventured into real estate investing.  Dreamscape Realty Investments has kept her busy with both rental and fix it/flip it properties.  Debby is also a certified scuba dive master and dedicated volunteer for the Humane Society.

Debby, her life partner of 24 years, and their 6 dogs and 6 cats (all rescue animals) will be moving to Cozumel the end of December.  Their new home is 2500 square feet on a double lot with an 8 foot tall wall around it that will help keep the menagerie from running wild on the island.  Debby is already actively involved with the Cozumel equivalent of the Humane Society, assisting them in obtaining 501(c)(3) status for their fundraising arm.
