Erin Sziy | Alpha Search and Recovery

Alpha Search and Recovery team members are all volunteers, who dedicate their own time and resources to locating missing persons. All Alpha SAR members receive training in all areas involved in effective and cooperative search and rescue teams. Team members are trained in Incident Command System, which is part of the National Incident Management System used by FEMA and most branches of the Federal Government. Having members trained in ICS and NIMS allows the team to efficiently partner with other government agencies for searches and disaster relief. Team members are also trained to become a SARTech II as outlined by the National Association of Search And Rescue.

Erin Sziy joined [Alpha Search and Recovery] for a new adventure with her dogs. She has trained in agility and lure course in the past. She had the opportunity to do something different with her current canine who did not enjoy agility as much as her last. She decided to do something that made a difference in other people’s lives. Search and rescue work seemed to be the perfect choice as an outdoor adventure for her and her canine to help others. Erin rescued Watson from the veterinary clinic where he was abandoned, and together they started the journey to learning how to save lives.
