Stuart McClung | NASA Orion Project

Stu McClung is the Program Planning and Control Office chief of staff for the Orion program at NASA’s Johnson Space Center. In this role, McClung ensures the coordination and integration of the various Orion program offices and works to manage potential cost risks and threats. He also currently serves as point of contact for Orion program COVID response. McClung has worked in the Orion program Crew/Service Module Office since 2006 and has supported Orion in a number of leadership roles. Prior to assuming his current role in 2018, McClung completed a one-year assignment as the Orion program executive at NASA Headquarters, serving as a program representative to internal and external stakeholders. Before that, McClung was functional area manager for Orion mechanical and pyrotechnic systems, overseeing the cost and schedule coordination of over a dozen pyrotechnic systems teams. He has also been the lead for Orion production and assembly, with a focus on spacecraft engineering and supply chain management. McClung’s other leadership roles include serving as Orion Ground Test Article vehicle manager at NASA’s Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans in 2010, in which he acted as a liaison to ensure proper design of the test article. In addition, McClung was Orion Production Operations Deputy Manager for Orion’s first flight test, Exploration Flight Test -1, at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida from 2013 to 2014. McClung joined NASA in 1989 in the Orbiter Project Office at Johnson Space Center. Through 2005, he served as project manager for space shuttle orbiter hardware upgrades and safety improvements, including the orbiter docking system, external airlock, and the main landing gear. In 1992, McClung spent one year at NASA Headquarters as the space shuttle orbiter liaison in the Office of Space Flight. McClung volunteers his free time with NASA’s Office of STEM Engagement, participating in speaking engagements and acting as a mentor to college students. Outside of work, he also enjoys taking part in sprint triathlons as well as woodworking. |

Happy Thanksgiving from The Rotary Club of Space Center. We will not have a meeting this week so our members can focus on family and serving others in need. Our club is participating in Operation Turkey with a goal to provide meals for 10,000 people who may not otherwise have a meal. Peace to you and for all we are grateful. |

Charles C. Foster is the Chairman of Foster LLP and is based in the Houston office. Charles has dedicated much of his career to the improvement of his community. He served as senior immigration policy advisor to President George W. Bush in the 2000 and 2004 Presidential campaigns and as an immigration policy advisor to Barack Obama in the 2008 campaign. He has testified before both U.S. Senate and House subcommittees on immigration matters. Walter Branson | Guerrero Clinic

The Guerrero Surgery and Education Center provides medical care to the indigent population of Mexico. It is a project of the Rotary Clubs of Districts 5890 (Houston), 4110 (Mexico) and 5810 (Dallas). Speaking on the Guerrero Clinic is Walter Branson, a Rotarian since March, 1982. Branson served as President of the Brazosport Rotary Club 1989-90. He has acheived perfect attendance since joining Rotary and continues to serve on several committees in the club. Branson was selected “Rotarian of the Year” in 1984 and 1985 by Brazosport club as well as “Rotarian of the Year” by District 5890 in 1989.

RI Director, Peter Kyle

Peter first came to the US from New Zealand in 1973 to pursue post-graduate studies in law at the University of Virginia as a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar. After a career in private legal practice in New Zealand he returned to the US in 1992 to take up a position with the World Bank as a senior international attorney. He retired from this position in 2009. He was inducted into Rotary in 1976 and has since served the organization in many capacities. He has been particularly involved in alumni/Rotary Peace Fellow activities and has chaired both the Alumni Relations and Rotary Peace Centers Committees. He has also served as an International Assembly Trainer, COL Delegate, RI President’s Representative and Dean of the Rotary Representative Network. He is currently the RI Director for 2020-22 in Zones 33 & 34. Peter has received the Global Alumni Service to Humanity Award together with the Service above Self Award and the Citation for Meritorious Service. He and his wife, Margaret, live on the West River in Maryland in a home designed by Margaret and close to their two children and one grandson. |
