The Rotary Club of River Oaks has a long history of service and supports the Rotary motto - "Service above Self." Some of the Club's service activities are listed below:

•        sponsors a Charitable Trust, which provides funds for local charitable organizations from its endowment

•        has helped obtain and ship medical supplies to the former Russian republics

•        has worked at Project Cure (Houston) to provide surplus medical supplies all over the world

•        has provided Rotarian Group Service Exchange leaders for groups sent to Spain (1992), Australia (1994), the Philippines (1995), and the Czech Republic (1998)

•        has helped finance foreign scholars at Houston area high schools

•        sponsors a community-based Rotaract club (the Rotaract Club of River Oaks) for young adults (18-30) who attend area universities or are in business in the Houston area

•        has obtained and transported ambulances contributed through Rotary clubs to Mexico and Belize

•        sponsors international scholarships and aids in the selection of eligible students for Rotary Youth Exchange and the Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship programs 

•        has delivered textbooks, school supplies and computer equipment to schools in Mexico

•        originated and completed the Houston area Rotary Centennial Project at Hermann Park, (Rotary Grove). It was dedicated in 2005 and is  maintained by continuing contributions of time and money by Rotary District 5890

•        engages in a variety of other service projects at the club, district and international levels
