Assistant Principal John Thompson introduced two outstanding students from Pasadena Memorial.  Grecia Chapa is the daughter of Ruben and Teresa Chapa.  She carries a 4.9 GPA, which places her 13th in the senior class of 669.  She is a member of Production Theatre, which competes in UIL.  She is also a member of Junior Varsity Orchestra where she plays the violin which she has played for over 8 years.  She proudly holds an AP Scholar Award.  She loves to read and believes that exercise is important in everyday life.  She plans to attend the University of Texas majoring in Chemical Engineering.
Samuel Cervantes is the son of Samuel Cervantes and Laura Buentello.  He ranks 3rd in the class with a GPA of 5.39.   His many organizational memberships include the Interact Club, where he is a founder and President, Varsity Bland as 1st Chair Horn and Head Drum Major, National Honor Society, Vice President, Spanish Honor Society, President, Spanish Club, President, Class officer, Parliamentarian.
His Community Service projects include Pasadena Strawberry Festival, Christmas in August, Faulk Foundation, Vista Continuing Center, Lomax Middle School Band Assistant and building a parade float for the Pasadena Rotary and other Pasadena Rotary events.  Honors and Awards— has won high places in the TMEA Region Band Orchestra completion, AP Scholar with Distinction, TEXAs Music Scholar Academic Achievement Award, and has been recognized as the Most Outstanding Band Student.   IN his spare time he has attended the Academy of Rising Leaders in Austin, Texas Boy’s State, Bauer Business Institute Camp Enterprise, Drum Major Camp, and American Society of Karate.  He is a Black Belt with 10 years training.  He also teaches beginning advocates.  He plans to attend the University of Texas majoring in Mechanical Engineering and Pre-Law.  He is self-motivated and possesses a driving ambition to succeed.  He has adopted a philosophy and  Latin motto  “Labor Omna Vineit” which translates to “Hard Work Conquers all.”
