The Pasadena Rotary Club which boasts the best luncheon (furnished by the volunteers at First United Methodist Church) in town enjoyed an old fashioned “Breakfast for Lunch” at their regular Friday meeting on March 14, 2014
The meal featuring bacon, eggs, pancakes, two kinds of sausage and biscuits the size of a cake plate, was as usual an “Over the Top” feast.  Following the delicious meal President Dana Philibert jumped to “Warp Drive” and introduced guest speaker Dr. Will Reed.  Dr. Reed is the President and CEO of “Technology for All.”  With a BA from Southwestern University in Georgetown, a Masters of Theology and a Doctor of Ministry from SMU, Dr. Reed is “Up to Speed” on current advances in technology.  Partnering with community based organizations, educational institutions, corporations and foundations, great progress is being made.  It is reported that 96% of Americans use communications technologies in their daily life and on their job.  Yet less than half of middle and lower income groups have a computer in their home.  With most prospective employers requiring the applicant to have computer skills, the difficulty of finding employment for computer deficient individuals is obvious.  Dr. Reed’s group offers training and support and has developed 94 public computer centers in 17 Texas counties offering over 3.6 million hours of training to 233,000 individuals.  And not content with that “Technology for All” is working with Rice University in TFA wireless technology and other waves of the future.  With more and more of the basic functions of our life now available on the Internet, the importance of a source of continuing training is vital.  “Technology for All” strives to supply this need.
