The Pasadena Rotary Club was honored to recognize two outstanding students from Memorial High School as Junior Rotarians of the Month of September.  Seen from left are Angelia Stallings, Memorial’s Principle, Andrea Jackson, Kyle Shores and Assistant Principle Jeremy Richardson.  Andrea Jackson is the daughter of Maria Hernandez and Arthur Jackson.  She ranks 7th in the class with an outstanding GPA of 5.1804.  She is an active member and participates in Cross Country & Track & Field.  She is the Class Treasurer, a member of the National Honor Society, the Spanish National Honor Society, Robotics and is the Homeroom Box Manager.  She has amassed over 200 hours of Community Service with Nursing Home Bingo, Pasadena Rotary Fish Fry, Pasadena Animal Shelter and volunteering at the Park Place Regional Library.  She has received honors as a Semi-Finalist in the John F. Kennedy Profiles in Courage Essay Contest, the AP Scholar with Distinction and has lettered in Varsity Track & Field and Cross Country Running.  Hobbies and spare time activities including Reading classical literature books, running, writing stories, essays etc. and keeping current on world events watching CNN and reading online articles.  She plans to continue her education at the University of Texas or Barnard seeking a degree in Biochemistry, with minor/major in English.

 

Kyle Shores is the son of David and Marilyn Shores.  He has a GPA of 4.8 and ranks 28th in the Senior class.  He is a member of the National Honor Society, is a 4 year member of the Band and is this year’s Drum Major.  He performed in two spring musical productions “Oliver” and “Crazy for You”.  He’s been a member of Cub and Boy Scouts and is about to complete the requirements for his Eagle Scout Award.  One requirement for a prospective Eagle Scout is to build and donate a project for the Community.  He full-filled this requirement by building a Dodge-Ball Pit for his Church.  He has also volunteered at his Church helping with Vacation Bible School and other Church activities.  He cherishes the honor of being selected as the Band’s Drum Major.  He was awarded the “Most Outstanding Boy” in his Freshman and Sophomore years and is a member of the National Honor Society.  His love of primitive camping and the outdoors is evidenced by his work on an Eagle Scout project riding cross-country on horseback, riding 100 miles in 3 days in New Mexico.  He has also completed distance backpacking in Cimarron, New Mexico and canoeing in Canada.  He is employed by APEX Cabling and Communication Services.  He plans to attend Texas A&M earning a degree in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Math and Psychology.
