Pasadena Rotary was honored to have one of their own prestigious members, Bob Gebhard, The District Governor as the guest speaker.  California born, Bob is an Executive Vice President with Texas Citizens Bank. A Rotarian since 1993, Bob has been a member of both Pasadena South Rotary and Pasadena Rotary, holding many positions in both Clubs before ascending to the high position of District Governor in June of this year.

In describing the many benevolences of Rotary, he described a recent trip to Haiti and the practice of many non-government organizations to send used medical equipment to that impoverished country, most of which was not being used  because  no one was trained to use and maintain the equipment.  Rotary International responded to this need and now conducts classes teaching Haitians how to use, maintain and repair these much needed medical instruments.

Governor Gebhard spoke of goals for the coming year which included building and retaining membership, promoting the Rotary Foundation by adding benefactors, Paul Harris members and continuing the quest to eradicate polio worldwide...  He also proposes to reinstitute the practice of networking at club meetings, with the exchange of business cards and display tables.

“After all”, he said “Rotary is a family and we must care for and promote our family.”
