Justin Lacey, who was born and raised in Channelview, on Houston’s east side, has more than 15 years of professional experience in internal and external communication, marketing, public relations, and development, primarily in nonprofit education. In August 2019, he started as the first director of communications & community engagement for the Houston Botanic Garden, where he oversees implementation of the organization’s marketing and publicity plan across all media as it prepares for its grand opening in fall 2020. Justin was previously director of communication at his high school alma mater, Westbury Christian School, for six years. Prior to WCS, he was a writer and publications editor for the advancement and university communications departments at Houston Baptist University for almost five years. He started his career as a marketing coordinator and editor in the energy services sector. Justin also is in his second year as treasurer for the Houston chapter of the Public Relations Society of America, with which he has been actively involved as a member, volunteer newsletter editor, and now board member since 2013. Justin has an undergraduate degree in marketing from Harding University in Arkansas, and a Master of Arts degree from Michigan State University.
