Rotary has partnered with the Institute for Economics and Peace, an independent think tank and leader in the study of peace and conflict, to help address the root causes of conflict and create conditions that foster peace. I am the Peace Chair for Rotary District 5890. Here in District 5890, we are promoting peace by facilitating heightened levels of communication and coordination between already existing Committees here in District 5890 which are defacto building Positive Peace, fostering the development of new Positive Peace sub-committees (such as NewGen Young Peacebuilders, Environment, and Peace Promotion) as well as providing programs on Peace Building and the opportunity of becoming Rotary Peacebuilder Clubs to all of our District's 63 Rotary Clubs. We encourage all Rotarians to become Certified Rotary Peacebuilders through completing the Positive Peace Academy Certification Program.

Gwen Corolla joined the Memorial-Spring Branch Rotary Club in February, 2013. She served as President of that club in 2015 and was presented with the “Club’s 4-Way Test award” in 2018-19. In addition to their work with their clubs, Gwen and her husband Wayne Staton, Sharpstown Rotary Club, have been active at the District Level of Rotary for about 5 years.

She brings her lifetime of experience in sales and marketing, administration, business management and private consulting, working with all sizes and types of organizations to her work in Rotary. She is currently serving as the Chair of the District 5890 Peace Committee.
