New Privacy Laws and Your Business
Sep. 28, 2018
With massive data breaches by companies like Equifax, Facebook, Yahoo, Target, and many other large and small companies, individual persons’ personal information is a hot commodity. To help protect personally identifiable information, the European Union spent years constructing the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). It went into effect on May 25, 2018 and has been all over the news. GDPR affects more US-based businesses than you might think. Even if your business dodged the GDPR bullet, it’s likely you’ll need to address the California Consumer Privacy Act, which was passed this summer and will go into effect January 1, 2020. Madelyn will give you a quick “fly-over” of what the GDPR is, who it affects, and some things US companies need to know. Madelyn is Principal and Owner of Market Tuning Group. Her company provides Product Management, Marketing, Competitive Intelligence, and Rapid Prototyping services primarily to high-tech companies. She’s a certified Competitive Intelligence Professional, GDPR Professional, and is a certified facilitator in the Lego Serious Play method. Before she started Market Tuning Group, Madelyn worked in a broad range of positions for Fortune 500 companies and start-ups, including marketing, product management, sales and logistics.

The Veteran Experience - A Woman’s Perspective and more
Dec. 07, 2018
As a society, let us honor the brave women and men who serve in so many capacities. Without the dedication and service of our military brethren, we would not enjoy the freedoms we have today. They should be embraced, thanked, supported and loved. This is now my mission to serve an organization that gave me so much. I want to express how blessed, privileged, honored and humbled I am to be a representative of the armed forces and to tell my story. Many veterans have much braver, deeper stories to tell. I encourage you to communicate with them and ask about how their experiences shaped them. Every story is incredible, brave and unique. I am proud to call myself a veteran and to share this sentiment with all veterans today and every day. Regina serves as KPMG’s Global Sector Head and the U.S. National Sector Leader of Energy and Natural Resources. In both capacities, she helps determine the Firm’s strategy to better serve the industry as well as optimize the delivery of KPMG’s services nationally and globally. She is a recognized thought leader on the disruptive trends facing the various segments of the energy value chain – from the impact of millennials and baby boomers on gasoline consumption to the rapidly changing demands in the power generation segment. Regina has over 25 years of experience delivering large-scale business and technology changes to major energy companies around the world, and serves as the lead partner for several of KPMG’s key Energy clients. Her expertise in providing advisory services spans across the entire energy value chain from wellhead to retail and from the power plant to burner tip. Additionally, Regina is a strong voice supporting women’s leadership and networking programs. She serves as co-chair of the Houston Women Corporate Directors Chapter, and is on the board of the Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce and supports the United Way Women’s Initiative steering committee in Houston. Regina served as an adjunct professor at Rice University’s Jones School of Business teaching energy strategy to professional MBA candidates in 2013 and 2014. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University and a Master of Public Policy from Harvard University. She was an officer in the U.S. Army Reserve and interned at the Pentagon as part of the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) liaison office. Regina was born and raised in Pearl City, Hawaii. |
