Our US$40,000 Rotary Foundation Global Grant Project in Mali is COMPLETED!

Children, the elderly, and families in Bamako Mali are healthier thanks to Kingwood Rotary Club's Mobile Health Clinic!
 
Kingwood Rotary is making a difference in our local community, but we are also saving and changing lives in other countries thanks to Rotary Foundation Global Grants.  Our Rotarians pride themselves on doing projects that address and respond to human needs, and our US$40,000 "Mobile Health Clinic" in Mali, in partnership with the Bamako Ouest Rotary Club, does just that.   With projects in the Rotary Foundation's Six Areas of Focus, Rotary clubs can make a difference in the world.
 
The US$40,000 have been disbursed to the Bamako Ouest Rotary Club in Mali, and the Mobile Health Clinic is now saving lives!
Rotary Foundation grants provide financial support for sustainable projects around the world.  These projects require both a local host Rotary club and an international Rotary club partner before Rotary International will approve the project.  A few years ago, Kingwood Rotary partnered with other Rotary clubs and did a US$39,000 Rotary Foundation Global Grant to build a cold room for a blood bank in Mali to provide storage for 1,000 pints of blood.
 
Before our project, 80% of maternal deaths in Mali could have been averted if women had access to essential maternity and basic health-care services during delivery of their babies.  Our cold storage room project was essential in saving women who may have complications during and after giving birth and need blood.
Our latest US$40,000 project is a Mobile Health Clinic with will provide much needed care for 10 villages.  It will include a licensed doctor, nurse, health worker and driver which will provide provide primary medical care to those, who due to age and poverty, cannot approach regular doctors, in the  four villages in Mali.
 
Making the difference in the lives of others, whether here in the USA or in other parts of the world, is something that all Rotary clubs focus on and we are very proud that this project will help Kingwood Rotary provide the "Gift of Life"!
