Denise M. Mears, Founder of Project Protect Our Children
Nov. 11, 2021
Visitors are welcomed to attend this meeting to learn how we can protect our children! Denise lives in Kingwood and is "Fighting to End Child Sex Trafficking, Exploitation and Abuse… Before it Begins!" She started Project Protect Our Children which is a 501c3 founded in 2019 and is dedicated to preventing child sex trafficking, exploitation and abuse through proactive community engagement, preventative educational programs, awareness and empowerment opportunities. Denise found her passion in anti-human trafficking working with a Houston non-profit that provided direct services to teenage trafficking survivors. Through her work in Houston, she realized that the average child didn’t have the ability to understand the level of deception a predator will go to, thus making them easily manipulated. Technology and the internet have made it easier for predators to engage, entice and entrap our children both in the real world and the virtual one. It was evident to her that our children were falling victim to an evil that they were unaware of. She realized that our youth need to be given the knowledge and skills to be able to identify such situations. |

We're very proud to be helping the Blue Star Moms of Houston (which is based in the Humble/Kingwood area) collect non-perishable food items to fill boxes of "Care Packages From Home" for our local military service members in combat zones in harm's way.
We're proudly helping again just like we did at their last packing event.
Drop off your donations:
We're helping pack 200+ boxes of food/snack items, and 100+ boxes of personal care items. The 300 boxes will be packed....and shipped immediately overseas.
To make a monetary donation, visit www.bsmhoustonarea.org. Monetary donations help the Blue Star Moms to cover the more than $20,000 a year they spend on postage to send these care packages.
If you have questions, please contact Kingwood Rotarian Charlie Buscemi at 713-598-7129 or cjsb@SuddenLink.net.
Please consider donating items to help us fill the boxes to the brim with items from home.
Consider stopping by Costco, Sam's Club, etc. to purchase items.
Please see the photo on the left (and bottom of this story) for items needed which include:

We are honored to have Theil T. Theil with Undying Hope International as our guest speaker tonight.
The mission of Undying Hope is educational to impact the people of South Sudan, and beyond, in four spheres of activity: basic education, public health, and healthcare services, leadership development, and spiritual formation. He was born and raised in Aweil, South Sudan. As a child during the Sudanese civil war, he witnessed atrocities first-hand. At age 13, his family moved from Aweil to Khartoum, Sudan's capital city. Nine years later, he fled to Syria and was granted protection as a refugee by the United Nations. Theil came to the United States (US) in 1998 as a refugee and became a citizen in 2004. Because he did not speak English, Theil began his educational endeavor in the US with English as a Second Language (ESL) classes, followed by formal college courses and university education. Theil held significant leadership and organizational roles in the US and East Africa and has developed substantial new public health and leadership development programs. Living in East Africa (Sudan, South Sudan, and Uganda), in Syria, and the US, has given Theil on-site experience with the culture and history of each of these countries. Theil is fluent in English and Arabic and is also conversant in Syrian, Egyptian, and Dinka. He has taken numerous leadership and management courses in the US and has completed a master’s degree Program in Organizational Leadership. Currently, Theil is a doctoral student in Organizational Leadership at Eastern University in Pennsylvania, USA. Please visit www.UndyingHope.org to learn more about his organization. |

We're having a Community Service Project at AABY'S Thrift Shop in New Caney and for this project to be a success, we need all our members to come help, The thrift shop is urgently needing VOLUNTEERS to install ceiling tiles before the SUMMER HEAT. It is becoming warm in the shop lately.
WANT TO VOLUNTEER WITH US?Send an email to Tommie Buscemi, President of the Kingwood Rotary Club - Click here to send email or call (713)598-7129
OUR GOALRemove the ceiling tiles from the space next door to ABBY's (we have the property manager's approval), move the ceiling tiles to ABBY's, and then install them in the thrift shop's ceiling. If we can't install all the tiles, we'll select a date to go back and finish the job.
