ROTARY CLUB OF HIGHLANDS

Highlands Rotary Club Chili Feast Huge Success

The Sun Shines on The Highlands Rotary Club and annual fundraiser is a huge success netting approximately $70,000 for community projects.

Congratulations to the Rotary Club of Highlands for another successful fundraiser.  Just one day before the event, unusual icy conditions kept people at home and off the roads threatening the event.  E-mails went out to let supporters know that the event was not postponed.  Although it was a cold morning to start, the sun came out and temperatures rose to a balmy 50 degrees...perfect weather for a bowl chili.  Supporters of the club came out in record numbers to show their support for the Highlands Rotary Club  The club netted approximately $70,000 for future projects thanks to sponsorships, raffle ticket sales and a record breaking live auction.

The lucky winner of the 2011 Chevrolet Camaro was Terri Hotchkiss.  Mrs. Hotchkiss was thrilled with the Camaro and chose to keep it instead of opting to take the 2011 Chevrolet Silverado.  The winner had their choice of the two vehicles. There were also 13 other winners of various raffle prizes given away during the drawing.

Chairwoman of the event, Denise Smith, says “Highlands is a small community and they have supported us so well for 36 years.  Thanks to our supporters we have a very successful track record for raising funds for community projects earning us the nickname “The Biggest Little Club in District 5890.”  We currently have 24 active members in our club and our members give 100 percent towards this fundraiser knowing it is for the betterment of our community.  To date Highlands Rotary Club has raised over $500,000 for scholarships and other projects.  This is no small feat for a club this size.”

The Rotary Club of Highlands sends out a special thanks to all of our supporters of this event including all event sponsors, Rotary Anns (spouses of Rotarians), Goose Creek Memorial Interact Club, The Chinquapin School Interact Club and Auctioneer, Lynn Spell.
