Help Haiti Container Last weekend for the three days about 40 Rotarians and friends collected goods to load on the container bound for Aquin. We had much fun and good fellowship in collecting and loading the goods.
The container is full and was sealed Sunday and started its trip to Haiti on Monday. The routing is: Halifax, North Carolina, Panama, Jamaica and Port au Prince, Haiti where it should arrive about July 30th. There is a small portion to be unloaded in Port au Prince and then on to Aquin. This container, owned by the Rotary Club of Aquin, will be off-loaded and then repurposed by the Aquin Rotarians after the medical supplies are delivered. And the school equipment taken to the schools where needed.
There are some unique goods for the folks in Aquin: 1) Aqua Box are water purifications systems (200 in total) These come from the R/C of Stratford in d 6330. 2) Christian Gleeners have send dried soup meals (will feed about 260,000 meals and can be used in the hospital, afternoon snacks for the kids and for prisoners in the local jails. 3) The medical supplies will have to be sorted by doctors and health care workers. There is a lot of material that can be distributed to the hospitals in the Commune. 4) Educational supplies including French books and shelving, chairs and desks can be used at the VO-Teck or other schools that are in need.
