Going to New York!

Ms. Rugayya Gibson, head coach of the Cy-Springs HS Girls Track Team, brought two of her star athletes to our lunch meeting on Thursday, February 17, 2011. The two young ladies are Kiera Walton and Keirsten Duncan. Good news were shared. First, President Paula Allen announced that our club has generously donated $500 to Ms. Gibson's team. Second, individual donations from Jeff Adams ($300), Easy Ojonta ($200), and Leslie Lawson ($100) were also presented. The money will help fund the team's travel expenses to attend the Indoor Nationals competition in New York. Ms. Gibson expressed their gratitude to our club for making it possible for them to travel. She also thanked our club member, Shawn Borzelleri, who is a Director at YMCA, for the use of the YMCA's facility during their training. Finally, Ms. Gibson announced that Kiera Walton has "signed on with U of H!" Plenty of cheers from our club members were garnered with that announcement!
