Notes from the latest ZOOM Board Meeting


May 20, 2020


The Columbia Center Rotary Board met via ZOOM on Tuesday evening at 5:00pm.  President Bill Robertson greeted everyone.


Secretary Report, Nancy - Minutes for April’s Board Meeting were Reviewed and Approved.


Treasurer Report, Jeff - BINGO transfers are reduced from $16,000 to $2,000 per month while BINGO BLVD is closed due to the pandemic.


BINGO Oversight, Mark - Opening BINGO BLVD will depend on Dept. of Health and the Gambling Commission and following their requirements for safety.  We have purchased plexiglass panels and will devise a plan for social distancing for seating, concessions and purchases knowing we will need to begin slowly with a limited number of guests.  Are waiting for the okay to open from the Governor.


Vocational & Educational, Jarrod - No report


Foundation Committee, Jackie - Received refund check from Bella Italia.


Membership, LoAnn - Nothing new to report


International Service, Randy - Even tho process is slowed due to the pandemic, the building in Belize is going up and photos were shared.


Special Projects, Chad - Nothing new to report


Club Service, Jay - Due to great fining and collections, we have over $1,000 in the kitty for parties!


Community Service,  Dave - Need to be thinking of Duck Race proceeds and how those will be distributed this year due to low budgets for all committees.


Youth Services, Traci - No report


Administrative Asst., Sondra - Nothing new to report


Human Trafficking Funds, Mark - TV ads are ready to go but will not air until Boat Race weekend and the B/F County Fair which are events that drive higher activity.  Social media programs are getting higher than average hits and replays!



Things to consider when re-opening weekly Rotary meetings:

- spend the time now to come up with a plan so we’re ready to go

- how to social distance 

- how do we provide a lunch and retain social distancing?

- can we include an ZOOM meeting option for those who would rather not attend physically?

- LoAnn volunteered to head the committee to develop a plan with the Board all volunteering to be on the committee.


Incoming President, Mark - recently attended District meeting

- developing a budget for next year

- how do we do an Installation Banquet in July?

- can we do something new and different for 2021 ‘Shine the Light’ event?

Rotary is about Service and we need to keep that in mind during these challenging times!
