My Very Own Bed was founded by Michael Allen in January 2014. He saw families who had recently transitioned out of homelessness and had a need for new beds and linens. The mission sprang from founder Michael Allen’s work in social services. He saw that families who had recently transitioned out of homelessness had a need for beds and linens, as many family members including children, were sleeping on the floor.
