In honour of our 100th anniversary on May 1, 2020, we worked with the City of Nanaimo to complete our Rotary Centennial Garden in the northeast corner of the city’s waterfront Maffeo Sutton Park.
Working for several years with the City of Nanaimo, Nanaimo Parks and Recreation and the Nanaimo City Council, our club made a major contribution and completed design and engineering work for the garden. Construction commenced in April 2020 and was completed in summer 2020. It was officially inaugurated by the City of Nanaimo September 2020.

Careful planning went into the garden, as we wanted it be:
  • Highly visible and accessible to all in the community
  • A place of natural beauty for rest and contemplation
  • Promoting peace, a major value of Rotarians
The Rotary Centennial Garden aspires to be a cherished place of peace and serenity for all.
Our sincere thanks to Scott Newlands of the Nanaimo Recreation and Parks Department, the City of Nanaimo and Nanaimo Council for their support of this project – a gift from the Rotary Club of Nanaimo to the community of Nanaimo.
