Foodshare 2021 Outdoor Kitchen

We supported the Nanaimo Foodshare Society's food security and community access with a $10k donation for a new education and food preparation area at Foodshare's 47-acre farm. The outdoor area includes an event tent, a food-safe outdoor floor, stainless steel prep tables and work areas, outdoor cooking burners, and wash sinks that allow program participants to harvest food and cook it while enjoying the fields in which it was grown.  This farm-to-fork experience is one of many Foodshare initiatives that helps support multiple groups including seniors' volunteer groups, and food skills groups, such as cooking with school age children, the Metis association and people in the diverse ability community.
