This week our featured speaker was Janet Stewart from Woods Homes. RCCHP’s Vocational Service Committee has worked with Woods Homes for a number of years and has supported their Youth Culinary Arts Program.

The program provides six to eight weeks of training to help youth prepare for employment in the restaurant and food service industry. Participants receive hands-on instruction in a commercial kitchen, including menu design, along with training in conflict management, teamwork, and professional conduct. The program also provides employment support and a weekly income during training.

The initiative is supported by partners including The City of Calgary Family and Community Support Services, Safeway, Sobeys, Starbucks, and United Way of Calgary and Area.

The program serves youth aged 15–29 who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness, helping them build practical skills and pathways to employment.

FYI - the Zoom Meeting Recording is a Work in Progress!
