🎤 Today’s Guest Speaker: Melanie Kjorlien

Today we welcomed Melanie Kjorlien, who gave us an exciting look at the Glenbow Museum’s major renovation and vision for the future.

Melanie has been with Glenbow for 18 years, working in exhibitions, collections, education and marketing. She shared how the renovation will transform the museum into a more welcoming, accessible and connected space.

Highlights include:

  • 36 exhibition spaces and approximately 3,000 objects on display.
  • More windows, larger galleries and a new fifth-floor outdoor terrace featuring Indigenous plants.
  • Free general admission, supported by a $35-million Shaw Family Foundation endowment.
  • Greater accessibility, with Glenbow pursuing Rick Hansen Gold Certification.

Melanie gave us a fascinating glimpse of how Glenbow is evolving into a more open and inclusive centre for art, history and culture.
