Alberta's Evolving Economy in a COVID World
Oct. 30, 2020 7:00 a.m.
Our guest speaker this Friday, October 30th is Todd Hirsch, Vice-President and Chief Economist at ATB Financial.
The link to log on to the webinar is included below, as well as in the attached invitation if you wish to share with friends.
A few differences with a webinar vs Zoom meeting:
- you will be automatically joined without video and will be muted
- questions must be entered into the Q&A panel. This is located next to the chat function.
I will read the questions for Todd to answer - we do expect there will be many questions so he will answer as many as possible.

After a long day at the hospital, there is nothing more appreciated than a home-cooked meal. The Home for Dinner Program is an excellent way to offer families staying at Ronal McDonald House the opportunity to spend more time together. They rpovide the kitchen and we provide the food, plan, prepare and serve the meal. We will have access to the kitchen just after 2:30 and must be ready to serve dinne, buffet style, by 5:30. The Community Kitchen Program of Calgary (CKPC) is an organization that we supported financially in collaboration with the Rotary Clubs of Calgary Sarcee, Stampede Park and West. Their motto is 'reducing hunger today, educating for tomorrow'. They undertake their mission of 'Working to reduce hunger by promoting healthy food choices and enabling the community to educate, equip and feed themselves.' through several programs, including the Good Food Box, a program that allows community members to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables at a very low cost. As an example, the $35 box that provides 40-45lbs of produce would cost up to $80 to buy in retail. It is a 'hand-up' vs.' hand-out' program programthat offers sustainable access to nutritious food to ensure that no one has to go hungry. The boxes are put together and delivered by dedicated volunteers and that's where we come in! We will be packaging the produce so it is ready for the boxes to be filled by anotehr group of volunteers the following day. As with our last two volunteers shifts, we can expect that we will not need 3 full hours. All volunteers will be socially distanced throughout the shift, and asked to wear a mask. If you wish to participate and do not have a mask, they will provide one. Volunteers will be provided with gloves and a hand-wash station and sanitizer are readily available for proper hand hygeine.
Parking and Other Information: Community Kitchen Program is a non-smoking and scent free environment. Parking is available on the south side of the building for Volunteers only.
