Phil discussed the AGM on December 6th and how the nominating committee intended to present a full slate of directors for the meeting. There is still an opportunity to show interest if you would like to put your name forward, contact Phil. He also discussed the organization chart for the club, and which Directors are responsible for which committees (for example Past President would deal with the Nominating Committee and the RI Foundation (Kentville) committee).
Bill then gave a strategic plan update. He explained the new Key Strategic Areas, similar to the previous Strategic Plan, but the priority area of environmental stewardship was removed as the board felt that it should be an overarching pillar as opposed to a key strategic area. The Key Strategic Areas were then given to the committees to propose action plans for the next three years. Two committees have done this that Bill used as examples.
They are getting close to being able to present a draft strategic plan.
Phyllis presented on behalf of the Rotary Clubs of Kings County Charitable Foundation. She thanked Bill and all those involved with the joint meeting. The Foundation was proud to fund organizations to the total of $87,500! Below is the list of recipients.

Pierre - Update on the Food Bank since the last time he did so was sometime in the summer. Pierre said that since Covid 19 started that the number of persons using the facility went down and this was due to the government money subsidies. Last month the trend started to change and they are seeing more families and children and expect it to increase now during the winter months. He wanted to say Thank-you to our delivery volunteers, they make quite a difference to individuals who cannot make it to the food bank in person! They are greatly appreciated! From our club that includes Greg Trefry, Phil Warren, Wally Jarvis, Rick Graham and Rick Ramsay. Pierre organizes the schedule and helps as well but they could use a couple more volunteers which would mean everyone would only have to do one shift per month (approximately 2hrs on a Thursday). Contact Pierre at 681-7004 or via email if you wish to help!

Rotary’s Areas of Focus (Part 1 of 2)
Rotary is dedicated to seven areas of focus to build international relationships, improve lives, and create a better world to support our peace efforts and end polio forever.
Promoting peace: Rotary encourages conversations to foster understanding within and across cultures. We train adults and young leaders to prevent and mediate conflict and help refugees who have fled dangerous areas.
Fighting disease: We educate and equip communities to stop the spread of life-threatening diseases like polio, HIV/AIDS, and malaria. We improve and expand access to low-cost and free health care in developing areas.
Providing clean water, sanitation, and hygiene: We support local solutions to bring clean water, sanitation, and hygiene to more people every day. We don’t just build wells and walk away. We share our expertise with community leaders and educators to make sure our projects succeed long-term.
Learn about the other four next week!
