President's March Update:

Bill attended a meeting of Valley Rotary presidents and incoming presidents at Heather Hennigar’s place. Clubs in attendance were New Minas, Kentville, Wolfville and MudCreek. A key area discussed was the challenges of membership. All clubs are supportive of the joint committees and looking for others that might work. Secondly, there was an expression of interest to plan joint social events. Another topic was regarding joint service projects in the local community (ie. beach cleanups, trails, etc..)

Committee Reports:

Centennial Planning (Rick G) Six members have expressed interest thus far: Ellen C, chair (and president of the centennial year), Rick G, Randy C, Gary C, Pierre H, Phyllis J and Rick G.

Strategy Planning (Rick R) : They have been reviewing the survey results and chasing after a few more to ensure most member voices are heard. They will report back to the club shortly.

NKEC Interact Club (Wally): Due to COVID the interact club is inactive (suspended) this year. We are all hopeful that the club will be resurrected in the fall pending the pandemic situation.

International Services (Elva): Three global grants have been submitted to Rotary International. One has been approved and the other two are being discussed and awaiting approval. The Committee is working on a global grant to be hosted in our area (Kentville). Stay tuned for more on this.
Zones 28 and 32 are planning a Virtual Gala on May 12th as a way to raise funds for the Rotary Foundation. Click on the "Do Good" image to view a promotional video or for more details including how to purchase tickets use this link: Celebrating our Foundation.

Valley Faces of Business (Phil): We are doing well, but still quite a ways from our goal. Please make contact with your businesses and if you are visiting a business or using their services, please approach them about being part of our book. Personal relationships help a lot in this instance.

Rotary Foundation Minute: (Phil) HOW THE ROTARY FOUNDATION TOUCHED ONE PERSON’S LIFE
What we do is touch other people . . . open the horizon to them . . . say ‘You matter.’ You see, the five men who chose me to become a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar are gone . . . but they’re not. They never will be. Because along the way, I will in my own way share with others - and have - what those five men and the 60 members of the Marshall (Texas) Rotary and the tens of thousands of other members of Rotary did in 1956 when they said, ‘Bill Moyers, you can matter.’” Bill Moyers, TV journalist and commentator, and former Deputy Director of the Peace Corps.

Chase the Ace – Lucky ticket “5900” belonged to Chris. With 13 cards left in the deck, he drew a mystery card (not revealed to Zoomers)! But we do know it was not the ace!!! The pot continues to grow and rolls over for another week.

Bill led the club in the four-way test.

Join us 12 noon on Monday, March 29th  at Paddy’s (or via Zoom or Facebook Live) for our next meeting.
