Sue: Happy to have survived Covid, got her positive test on Christmas Eve, no after effects so far. Also very happy to be hopefully heading to Aruba on Saturday.
Pierre: Happy to have had a great holiday with family and thankful for the crew of folks (including many Rotarians) helping at the foodbank over the holidays.
Elva: Happy to see Pete during this difficult time.
Bill: Thankful to have not contracted Covid even as a close contact.
Brian: Happy with all of the members who came out to help with baking – Greg, Linda and Phyllis. They were out by 7:30pm!
Guest Speaker: Shayne Mann, of the Sackville, NB club (but currently living in Upper Tantallon, NS) on the Rotary Atlantic Environment Committee.

There were a few questions by members on the Day of Service, Shayne explained that clubs could either choose their own project for the weekend, could use a suggestion given by the committee or could continue a project they already have on the go.
President’s Report
Bill just reminded everyone that the board decided that Zoom meetings would once again be the plan for the time being.
Secretary’s Report
Rick let the members know that we had received a Christmas Card from Anya wishing us all a happy holiday and letting us know that she is halfway through her second year of medical school and living in Vienna.
Committee Reports:
- Breakfast Program is on hold for the time being.
- Exchange program – There is no one suitable interested in doing an exchange for next year, Trish is going to look into whether we can take incoming students with no outgoing students.
- PWD distributed gift cards again this year in replacement of the Christmas Party.
- Phyllis let the club know that former member and President Steve Healy’s brother Paul passed away over the holidays.
- Ellen gave an update on Covid from the healthcare perspective.

What Makes a Successful Global Grant Application?
Consult with local experts early in the planning process to build a strong program plan and global grant application. The district resource network (see attached) can help.
To be approved, your application must clearly describe how your project, scholarship, or vocational training team:
Is sustainable — include plans for long-term success after the global grant funds have been spent
Includes measurable goals
Aligns with one or more of Rotary's areas of focus
Responds to real community needs
Actively involves Rotarians and community members
Meets the eligibility requirements in the grant application terms and conditions
The Rotary Foundation’s grant model empowers Rotarians to continue advancing world understanding, goodwill, and peace through the implement of health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty.
Illness Reports:
Greg reported that Fred had three stents put in and was waiting for a valve replacement. Still in hospital in the city.
Bill let the club know that Randy was having good days and bad days and hopes to see him on the zoom meetings!
