Bill: Went to the Eastern Shore yesterday to help clear some of his son’s land – last time was winter 2019, it was great to be back there.

Peter: Happy to have nicer weather, it was a rough initial few days.

President’s Report

Bill welcomed the Visiting Rotarians and updated everyone that the Southwest Nova Scotia President’s Council met – it was a small meeting but enjoyable. All the clubs are meeting virtually, but hopefully that will change soon.

 

Secretary’s Report

A board meeting tomorrow morning.

 

Illness Report: Bill talked to Brenda (Randy’s wife) and he is doing pretty well. He also tried to get in touch with Matt.

Greg heard from Al Mutch that Fred was maybe still in the hospital in Halifax.

Any current information on creating a bilingual district? There will be lots of use of translation technology, as much translation as possible but because of legal situation they may not designate as officially bilingual.

Words from a Past Rotary Foundation Global Grant Scholar

“During my time as a Rotary scholar, I learned to look at development differently. We often think of international aid in terms of poverty reduction, and we often see poverty reduction in terms of dollars spent and earned. The anthropology of development aims to analyze global aid in another way. We pay particular attention to how initiatives play out on the ground to determine just what local communities’ needs are and how those needs might be met sustainably and, eventually, autonomously….Rotarians understand that to have the most impact, we need to learn from other cultures.
