Presidents Dinner

Our Club honoured its history along with the achievements of both community leaders and Club Members on Monday evening at KenWo.

The Presidents Dinner is an opportunity to recognize individuals who have served the Club as Presidents since its inception, and to recognize the special achievements of community members and Rotarians, through the awarding of Paul Harris Medals. In the first picture from the evening, Master of Ceremonies Leah White is shown with Peter Clarke, who has joined the ranks of those in the Club with 25 or more years of as a Rotarian.

Paul Harris Awards were given to two community members at the KenWo event, the first being to Dave McKeague, for his work in the development of Camp Brigadoon, a special camp for children living with chronic illnesses.  David has demonstrated real leadership, in the face of some personal medical challenges, and the fact that the Camp has been in operation successfully for 5 years now, is proof of the merit of his vision and dedication. A second Paul Harris Award was given to Sara Leslie, a local mom and teacher, who has been instrumental in the development of the new Kentville Library.  As one of the people who revived the Friends of the Kentville Library, and guided the organization in seeking the community funding, including that from Rotary, to establish the new branch in the former United Church property, Sara modestly accepted this special recognition.  Sara sees the Library as an inclusive, safe space for people, particularly children, whether rich or poor, to learn and grow.

Also shown in this photo, our Club Members were recognized at the Presidents Dinner, with Paul Harris Awards being presented to Garth Gordon and Roger Sevigny, for their many years of active support to our local Club and beyond.  Each of them has contributed in their own way to demonstrate the true meaning of Service Above Self.
